Most of the patterns of the Imperial Court
Costume are created with a weaving technique.
It features a tone of order and neatness
expressed by the systematically repeated
pattern.
This pattern is conformed to the example
and form in the world of court nobles, which
has been formed around the Imperial Court since the 11th century (the
midlle of the HEIAN ERA of Japan). That is why it is called YUUSOKU-MONYOU
(Imperial Court form design) nowadays.
